![]() Wacom products have a reputation for being pricey, but they are well worth the investment for artists who appreciate a quality product that will last for years.Ī list of my recommended drawing tablets. Wacom makes top-of-the-line tablets with a lot of useful features like pen tilt, touch pad navigation and programmable shortcut buttons. Wacom is the most reputable and well-known tablet manufacturer on the market. ![]() Without a tablet, it can be very difficult to make digital art. The pen also functions as a mouse to perform navigation tasks on your computer. ![]() Pressure from the pen can be used to vary the width and opacity of a brushstroke. Some older models of HDTVs may have an SVGA or DVI input which can also be used to connect an HDTV to a computer.ĭrawing tablets receive input from a pressure-sensitive pen, which is used to create artwork on a computer. You’ll need to make sure that your computer’s video card supports HDMI input if you want to connect an HDTV to your computer. If you want very accurate color, choose a professional-grade computer monitor. If size matters, I recommend using a large HDTV because you’ll get more bang for your buck. See an example of the multiple displays I use in my studio. I can average the three images to get an idea of how my artwork will look across many types of displays. Having more than one display not only allows me to multi-task more easily, it also gives me several unique views of my image. I also have a third display, an ASUS 24″ computer monitor. The color is less accurate on the HDTV, but it works well to store reference images and windows. My secondary display is a Samsung 50″ 1080 HDTV. I do all of my drawing and design work on the Cintiq. My primary display is a Wacom Cintiq 27QHD Touch which has 2K resolution and very accurate color. This is especially noticeable in artwork that contains a lot of fine lines and details. A higher resolution means the pixels will be smaller and more dense giving you a clearer view of your artwork. Most common are 1080 HD displays, but 2K (1440p), 4K and even 8K displays are becoming more affordable. You can use either a monitor or an HDTV for your digital painting display.ĭisplays come in a variety of resolutions. Accurate color will ensure that the appearance of your artwork remains consistent whether you print it on canvas or view it on someone else’s device. ![]() A proper display must also represent color and contrast accurately. The Display functions as your canvas when painting on a computer, so you will need a large screen with a lot of room to work on. Now that we know what a workstation is, let’s take a look at its individual components: the Display, the Tablet and the Computer. Rather than buy a new computer ever few years, you can simply replace the slow parts with faster ones. Desktops are also easily expandable which means you can add components, increase the amount of memory and upgrade to a faster processor. If I want to take my work outside of the studio, I use a Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 which is a mobile workstation.ĭesktop workstations are capable of producing the most processing power, which makes them an ideal workstation to use when creating digital art. Since I’m most frequently in my home studio, I have a powerful desktop workstation that makes my digital painting experience as comfortable as possible. I use two different workstations to create my work. Let’s start by talking about Workstations.Ī Workstation is a configuration of computer hardware and software components which can be used to create digital illustrations. So that’s the bare minimum needed to run Corel Painter, but what about making the application run as fast as possible? To maximize the performance of your computer, you’ll need to know some basics about computer hardware.

![]() Non-polar solvents, such as carbon tetrachloride and benzene, use the same mechanism to dissolve solutes that is an electrostatic attraction. Non-polar solutes such as fats, oils, and greases, do not dissolve in water. Water molecules are attracted to electrically charge solute molecules and if the force of attraction is strong to breaks the solute molecules and distribute these molecules evenly with the solvent, then we say that the solute is dissolved. The arrangement of ions gives a molecule distinct positive and negative charges which have the ability to react or interact with the molecules of polar solutes electrostatically. This mechanism of water by which it dissolves solutes applies to all the same polar solvents, such as methanol. ![]() Water is a universal solvent used everywhere because of the high polarity of the water molecule. Polarity is the ability of a solvent to dissolve any solute. On the basis of polarity there are two types of solvents they are polar and non-polar. Solvents have various applications in chemical, pharmaceutical, oil, and gas industries for chemical syntheses and in purification processes. Ions and proteins present in a living cell also dissolve in water inside a cell. Water is the most common solvent as it has the capacity to dissolve almost all solute. Some of the uses of solvents are dry cleaning, paint thinners, nail polish removers, glue solvents, spot removers, detergents, and perfumes. The quantity of solute which is dissolved in a specific volume of solvent varies with temperature. Generally solvent is a liquid but it can also be a solid, a gas, or a supercritical fluid. ![]() A substance in which solute is dissolved and forms solution is a solvent.
